Dennis Wiles, Executive Director


Dennis Wiles has served as Executive Director of White River Regional Housing Authority (WRRHA) since June 29, 1995. His responsibilities as Executive Director include management of all financial and programmatic activities of the housing authority. WRRHA serves ten counties in the north central Arkansas region and Wiles’ responsibilities involve oversight of the management of 29 apartment complexes with just under 600 units; management of the largest Section 8 Existing Voucher program in the state of Arkansas with over 1,700 vouchers; reviewing and implementing HUD and USDA Rural Development regulations and procedures; long-range planning; oversight of a budget of nearly $9 million dollars annually; and supervising 30 full-time and 23 part-time employees.

Wiles was an original employee of WRRHA when it was organized July 1, 1976 and served as an Area Housing Coordinator until August 1987. Prior to becoming Executive Director, he was Assistant Director from August 1987 until June 1995. Wiles has been directly involved in the development and construction of 19 of WRRHA’s apartment complexes, 5 property rehabilitation projects and 3 Single Room Occupancy (SRO) projects. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, HOPE for Elderly Independence Pilot Program, Project Mainstream for disabled persons, and a Section 8 Homeownership program. Wiles has been a major force in the growth of WRRHA to be the largest Section 8 Existing Voucher provider in the state of Arkansas.

Wiles was born in Highland, (Sharp County) Arkansas and graduated from Highland High School. He obtained his BS degree from Arkansas State University in 1972. He is a Vietnam Veteran having received an Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star.

Wiles holds a real estate broker’s license, is a 37-year board member of the White River Planning and Development District, and former board member of the North Central Arkansas Development Council and Highland School District.  He currently is a member of the Board of Trustees of Ozarka College in Melbourne, is a member of the Rural Rental Housing Association of Arkansas board, is a board member of North  Arkansas Electric Cooperative, and remains actively involved in the improvement of housing programs and development of affordable housing in the north central Arkansas region.

Wiles has a passion for jet skiing and golf. He lives in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas with his wife, Wanda. They have two grown children - a son and daughter-in-law Jason and Sarah Wiles of Syracuse, N.Y., a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mike Mullen of Rogers, Arkansas, and three grandchildren: Sydney and Dayton Mullen of Rogers, and Chloe Wiles of Syracuse.
